How to read a research paper with the question still in view
A practical reading method for following the source, experimental setting, measurements and uncertainty behind a research conclusion.

Follow the paper, the methods and the degree of certainty behind a claim.

A reading direction
Emerging science needs a clear description of its evidence stage. An in vitro result, an animal experiment, an observational human study and a controlled human trial are different forms of evidence. None should be described as clinically established without appropriate supporting research and context.
Ask what the paper actually measured, which material it studied and what remains uncertain. Where a claim has no adequate supporting evidence, say that the evidence is insufficient. The guides below help you trace the source, assess methods and keep that boundary visible.
